Vaishno Devi pilgrimage: The Goddess beckons

One of the most important pilgrimage for Hindus, is a visit to the shrine of the Goddess, Vaishnavi, in Jammu. Devotees throng this temple to ask the Goddess for some favour or to thank her for a bountiful life. Although the climb to the abode of the Goddess is not very easy, all age groups are seen walking those miles into the mountain. While there are many devotees who visit the shrine once every year, there are some who trek those 13.5 Kms every month, to seek her blessings.
